The production process of ALKOSEL mimics the natural process of organic selenium incorporation into plants. Like plants, the specific yeast strain used in ALKOSEL (Saccharomyces cerevisiae NCYC R397) absorbs inorganic selenium and converts it into organic selenium, mainly into selenomethionine and selenocysteine.
